In a remarkable display of commitment to engineering excellence and collaboration, the Managing Director/CEO, Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Engr. Chukwuemeka Agbasi FNSE, Ph.D., FNIHTE, has pledged unwavering support and partnership to the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Maitama Branch.

This pledge was made during a courtesy call by the NSE Maitama Branch, led by its Chairman, Engr. Ugochukwu Henry Okoye, FNSE, FNIEE, today, May 16, 2024, at the Agency’s Headquarters in Abuja.

While expressing his dedication to supporting the branch, Dr. Agbasi commended the notable projects accomplished by the Maitama branch, citing them as exemplary demonstrations of the impact engineers can make in society.

He expressed gratitude for the award bestowed upon him during the last NSE week and promised to build a formal relationship between the Agency and the Branch. He mentioned that the Agency will work on establishing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering collaboration and partnership.

Dr. Agbasi also commended the Maitama branch for its outstanding projects across the city, notably the twin solar bus stop shelters with all-in-one street lights. He expressed his connection to the Maitama branch, describing the visit as a homecoming.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman, NSE Maitama Branch thanked the MD for his responsiveness to their request and his generous offer to support the branch. He acknowledged Dr. Agbasi as a role model and a source of inspiration to the engineering field in Nigeria and beyond.

Okoye further acknowledged the positive impact Dr. Agbasi has already made at FERMA since assuming office, applauding his development and implementation of strategies for repair and maintenance regimes for civil infrastructure to ensure adequate in-service performance, particularly for structures procured under Private Finance Initiatives/Design-Build-Finance-Operate routes with long-term concession periods.

The President extended an invitation to the MD/CEO to the Branch’s 2024 Chairman’s Cocktail Party and Award Presentation as the Special Guest of Honour.
