Military Equipment: Defence Ministry Ensures Quality, Value in Procurement

Minister of Defence, Maj. Gen. Bashir Salihi Magashi has restated the Federal Government stance in ensuring that equipment procured for the Military are the best value offered and efficiently operational to the required standard.

The Minister who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Mr. Musa Istifanus made the remark at a visual display of Marine warfare equipment being proposed to the Ministry by Aresa Shipyard Company of Spain, an International Vessels Manufacturing Venture.

The display which took place in Ship House, Abuja, was witnessed by Director Navy Affairs, and Directors of Legal, Planning, Research and Statistics of the Ministry as well as the representative of the Chief of Naval Staff.
Earlier, the Director of Navy Affairs, Mr. Kehinde Fashina informed the representative of the Minister of Defence, that Aresa Shipyard has come to showcase their products for the attention of the Federal Government.

The Country Manager of Aresa Shipyard, Mr. James Olajide, in his presentation explained that Aresa Shipyard with its headquarter in Barcelona has over 60 years of experience in Naval Ship building adding that the products of the company are currently being utilized across the globe especially in Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Greece, Angola, Brazil.
He explained that their services include transportation to final destination, training programmes for the end users, fleet management and technical services.

The Country Manager further explained that the Defence and Military Vessels are customized according to the request of the country and are equipped with the most modern military technology to achieve the best features in the security field.
Mr. Oriol Lopez, the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Aresa Shipyard and Mr. Pol Montilo, Head, Barcelona joined the meeting Virtually.
