Mrs Tinubu Disburses N200,000 To Ebonyi Elderly Citizens

FIC Report (Ebonyi State) – 250 elderly citizens, aged 65 years and above have received the sum of N200, 000 in the 2nd edition of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Elderly Support Scheme RHIESS sponsored by the Wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

Senator Tinubu said that the programme is designed to support the welfare of the elderly citizens annually adding that veterans from the Defence and Police officer’s wives association will also be benefiting from the scheme.

The theme of the program is Total Wellness: Happy, Healthy and Prosperous Lifestyle.

Senator Tinubu represented by the Wife of the Ebonyi State Governor, Mrs. Uzoamaka Nwifuru said that 250 beneficiary of the scheme has also been enrolled into the State Health Insurance programme under her pet project, Better Health for Rural Women, Children and Internally Displaced Persons foundation, (BERWO)

She maintained that the Governing board of the Renewed Hope Initiative has decided to increase the grant from N100, 000 to N200,000 this year to provide further support to the elderly citizens during the festive season.

A total of One billion, Nine Hundred Million Naira, (N1,900,000,000) will be disbursed across the nation. The RHI coordinators in the 36 States of the federation, the FCT and DEPOWA have received Fifty Million Naira, (N50,000,000) each, out of which N200,000 will be distributed to each beneficiary.

In addition to this, free medical check-ups and other sundry items will be provided also to the beneficiaries. I must commend all the other State first ladies and Renewed Hope Initiative State Coordinators and partners for their efforts in making the day a reality.

Mrs. Nwifuru commended the senior citizens who have been selected as beneficiaries and urged then to remember to prioritize their health as they enjoyed and celebrate the festive season. Eat well, stay hydrated, do little exercise, like walking and getting adequate rest. Spend quality time with love ones, and do what you enjoy and makes you happy.
