FIC Report (Nasarawa State) – Nasarawa State government has reiterated its Commitment to adopting new techniques in addressing challenges confronting the fishery to place the State among the Comity of states with fisheries potentials.
Governor Abdullahi Sule Made the Commitment at a second edition of the Feferuwa Annual fishing Festival held at Tunga Nufawa Community in lafia local government area of the State.
Describing fishery as a long age Business that promote natural endowment of a given society, enhance Sustainable economic growth and development of the Country.
He explained that the Feferuwa fishing festival if Sustained it would not only stimulate the socio cultural values of the state but also generate revenue to the state government.
While noting that government will continue to evolve measures to preserving fish stock, governor Sule however assured his Administration’s Commitment to bridge the historical conflict bedeviling fishing Communities across the State over the years.
In a remark, Permanent Secretaries Ministry of Agriculture Umar Abdullahi explained that the event symbolises the immense contributions of governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration in Agriculture through fishery to sustain economic growth and development of Nasarawa State.
On their parts, Chairman lafia local government council Haliru Arabo and the Community head of Tungan Nufawa Alhaji Ahmad Jibrin appreciated the efforts of governor Abdullahi Sule for given due attention to fishing festival calling for its substance.
Sometime last year Nasarawa State government has designated Feferuwa lake in lafia local government area among several lakes for the Annual fishing Festival in the State.
The Feferuwa Annual fishing Festival was climaxed with the Display of different species of fish by the fishermen.
