In Collaboration with the Presidency,
Office of The Senior Special Assistant to The President on Niger Delta Affairs with other Stakeholders is holding a
NATIONAL SUMMIT ON THE INTEGRATION OF ARTISANAL/ MODULAR PETROLEUM REFINERIES OPERATION IN NIGERIA
The summit is expected to address all the issues on the need for the localization and Advancement of home-grown technology in the production of petroleum products, as well as stopping illegal oil activities and mainstreaming artisanal petroleum refiners in the Niger Delta into the National economy.
The main objectives of the summit are:
i. To provide a platform for key stakeholders in Government, Organized Private Sector and Development Partners for drafting of an acceptable template for operations of local artisanal/modular refining activities in Nigeria;
ii. Environmental management in Artisanal and Modular Refining Industry
iii. Exhibition of current technologies in modular refineries by local and international fabricators and research institutions.
iv. Identify and document Nigerian potentials in the fabrication of components for modular refineries.
v. Provide employment opportunities for youths in Niger Delta region and Nigeria in general and to x-ray the post petroleum deregulation era and its challenges to the petroleum refining sector
vi. Highlight the economic benefits of the sector, especially in strengthening the naira, conserving foreign exchange and lowering the petroleum products prices in the short and long term.
4. The summit is scheduled to hold as follows:
· Date: Tuesday 16th – Wednesday 17th March, 2021
· Venue: Sheraton Hotel & Towers, Abuja
· Time: 10.00 am daily
Policy makers, Regulators, Environmentalist and all the stakeholders in the oil and gas industry are invited to attend.
The conference will be declared open by His Excellency the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo SAN, GCON, and will be addressed by Honourable Minister for Finance, Budget and National planning (State), Minister of Petroleum Resources, Minister of Science and Technology, Minister of Environment and other industry players.
