NCDMB Boosts Bayelsa Security with Donation of Tactical Equipment to Police

FIC Report (Bayelsa State) – The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board has donated operational equipment to the Nigeria Police Force in Bayelsa State, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening security in the oil-rich region.

The items were presented on Tuesday at the State Police Command Headquarters in Yenagoa, where the Board emphasized the need for sustained collaboration between stakeholders to enhance public safety.

Representing the Executive Secretary, Felix Omatsola Ogbe, the Acting Director, Project Certification and Authorization Division, Engr. Austin Uzoka, commended the police for their efforts in maintaining peace and combating crime across the state. He stressed that security is a collective responsibility and pledged continued support for initiatives that promote community policing.

Also speaking, the General Manager, Security Services, Mr. Desmond Awumade, noted that the Board recognises the vital role of security agencies in protecting lives, property, and critical national assets, especially in oil-producing communities.

The donated equipment includes 100 bulletproof helmets, 100 bulletproof vests, 100 walkie-talkies, and a surveillance drone aimed at improving intelligence gathering and operational efficiency.

In his response, the Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command, Iyamah Daniel Edebor, expressed appreciation to the NCDMB for the intervention, describing it as timely and impactful.

He said the equipment would significantly enhance the command’s capacity for crime detection, intelligence gathering, and rapid response operations across the state.

Other officials present at the event included senior management staff of the Board, among them Dr. Obinna Ezeobi, Engr. Dokubo Obongo, and Mr. Teddy Bai.
