FIC REPORT (BAYELSA STATE) – The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has called for stronger collaboration among governments, private sector operators and development partners to unlock the economic potential of the Niger Delta.
The Board made the call at the 2026 Niger Delta Economic and Investment Summit held from September 15 to 17 at the Obi Wali Cultural Centre, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The summit, themed, “Unlocking the Niger Delta’s Economic Potential for Sustainable Investment,” focused on strategies to accelerate investment and promote sustainable economic growth in the region.
Representing the NCDMB Executive Secretary, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, the Director of Legal Services, Mr. Naboth Onyesoh, said strategic partnerships, regional integration and coordinated investments were critical to driving sustainable economic development.
Drawing on the Board’s 16 years of implementing the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act, Onyesoh said local content remained vital to strengthening indigenous businesses, promoting industrialisation, developing skills and technology, creating jobs and expanding value creation within the Nigerian economy.
The NCDMB also advocated shared infrastructure and increased regional commerce to create a more conducive investment environment across the Niger Delta.
It said coordinated efforts among stakeholders would help position the region as a competitive economic growth corridor capable of attracting sustainable investments.
The NCDMB delegation included the Manager, Stakeholder Relations, Mr. Teddy Bai; Supervisor, Transformational Projects, Dr. Zuwairat Ezekome; and other officials of the Board.
