The Executive Secretary, National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD), Chief Ayuba Gufwan, and his team of Directors have received the promised North Central zonal office building from the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Barrister Caleb Manasseh Muftwang.
The symbolic handover took place during a brief but impactful ceremony held in Jos on Thursday, November 21, 2024.
In his address, Chief Gufwan expressed deep gratitude to the Plateau State Government for its unwavering commitment to promoting inclusivity and enhancing the welfare of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). He acknowledged this milestone as a significant step toward creating a more inclusive society.
Dr. Lengnen Jurmang, Chairman of the Plateau State Disability Rights Commission, also commended the Plateau State Government and lauded the Executive Secretary of NCPWD for the initiative to establish zonal offices, which will enhance accessibility and service delivery.
Mr. Shindol Aaron, Chairman of JONAPWD, Plateau State chapter, echoed these sentiments, extending his thanks to the state government while advocating for increased employment opportunities for Persons with Disabilities in Plateau State.
Representing the Executive Governor, the Honorable Commissioner for Land, Survey, and Planning, Hon. Peter Nyan Gai, reiterated the state government’s commitment to inclusivity and the welfare of PWDs. He assured attendees that Governor Mutfwang would be personally present to commission the new office, underscoring the administration’s dedication to ensuring equal opportunities for all citizens.
The event’s highlight was the ceremonial handover of the building’s keys by Hon. Peter Nyan Gai to Chief Ayuba Gufwan.
The ceremony was attended by top officials of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, dignitaries from Plateau State, and other stakeholders passionate about advancing the rights and welfare of Persons with Disabilities.
