The Federal Government has been commended for ensuring the passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill and its eventual enactment into law.
The commendation was made by a group of youths from the Niger Delta region who were at the NNPC Towers today, Wednesday, 25th August, 2021, to express solidarity and support for the government. The youths were particularly appreciative of the President, Mohammadu Buhari, the Honorable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva and the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mele Kolo Kyari for their concerted effort that saw to the signing of the Bill into law.
The President of Niger Delta Nonviolence Agitators Forum (NDNAF), Comrade Wisdom Oniekpar Ikuli, who spoke on behalf of the group commended the Federal Government for the remarkable achievement of the passage and signing if the Petroleum Industry Act. Ikuli expressed satisfaction with the 3% allocated to the host communities, adding that it will go along way in improving the living conditions of the people in the area.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Dr. Nasir Sani Gwarzo, mni, expressed satisfaction with the solidarity gesture vis-a-vis the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) by the Niger Delta group.
