Nigeria Forest Security Service Receives Commendation from Edo State Government

FIC Report (Edo State) – During a recent courtesy visit to the Office of the First Lady at the Government House in Benin City, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, the Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, commended the Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS) for their commendable efforts in ensuring safety within the state.

Mrs. Anani expressed her heartfelt gratitude, stating, “On behalf of the Government, I want to extend our appreciation for the invaluable work you do. It takes immense courage to navigate the forests and put your lives on the line to protect the people of Edo State. Your dedication does not go unnoticed.”

She reassured the NFSS that the State Government is committed to providing the necessary resources and support to enhance their operations, saying, “Rest assured, we will make sure you have everything you need to boost productivity and effectively fulfill your responsibilities.”

Highlighting the crucial role the NFSS plays in combating banditry and kidnapping, Mrs. Anani noted, “The Governor greatly values your contributions. He understands your significance in the forest, as your efforts are instrumental in reducing incidents of banditry and kidnapping.”

Additionally, she reiterated the State Government’s dedication to fostering a favorable environment for the NFSS to perform their duties effectively, ensuring their success in securing the community.

The leader of the NFSS delegation, Assistant Commander General Segun Odion Agbavboa, acknowledged Mrs. Anani’s support and outlined the agency’s mandate. He stated, “The NFSS is focused on safeguarding our communities from banditry, terrorism, and kidnapping. We have structured commands at local, area, state, and national levels, with personnel stationed across the local government areas of Edo State to gather intelligence and mitigate criminal activities. We look forward to collaborating closely with your office to enhance safety in our state.”

He also urged the State Government to address challenges faced by the NFSS while reaffirming their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the people of Edo.
