Nigeria receives The International Cricket Council (ICC) 2019 World Cup Trophy.

The Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Development Barrister Solomon Selcap Dalung has expressed Federal Government unwavering support for the Nigeria Cricket Federation. This he stated during the reception of the International Cricket Council (ICC) 2019 World Cup trophy tour to Nigeria recently at the VIP lounge, National Stadium, Abuja.

Dalung represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry Mr. Olusade Adesola acknowledged the honour and privilege the International Cricket Council accorded to the country by including Nigeria among the countries the world cup trophy will tour.  He reiterated that the NCF has made giant achievements hence the recognition by the International Cricket Council.

The World Cup trophy was presented by the representatives of ICC to the Permanent Secretary who received it on behalf of the Honourable Minister.   The World Cup trophy is driven by Nissan.

Speaking earlier the President Nigeria Cricket Federation Professor Yaya Adams Ukwenya thanked ICC for giving Nigeria the honour of the World Cup trophy visiting the country.  He said the aim of the trophy tour is to solicit support from member countries of the ICC and expressed optimism that the coming of the trophy to Nigeria will be an inspiration for Nigeria athletes to fly Nigeria flag in the game of Cricket.

The representative of Nissan informed the gathering that the company is sponsoring the trophy tour to Lagos and Abuja.

The President of National Olympic Committee (NOC) Engineer Habu Gumel and Mrs. Hauwa Kulu Akinyemi D(PMI) delivered goodwill messages.  She commended the President of the Federation (NCF) for his passion in developing Cricket and thanked the representatives of the ICC.

The dance trope from the National Council of Arts and Culture thereafter entertained the gathering.
