The Super Falcons of Nigeria qualified for the women’s football event of the 2024 Olympics in Paris after playing a goalless draw with South Africa at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium, Pretoria on Tuesday night.

The Falcons taking a 1-0 lead from the first leg encounter in Abuja recently maintained and avoided a defeat in the second leg securing qualification against their rivals. With this result , Nigeria broke the 16-year jinx of absence from the Olympics since 2008.

Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh has saluted the Super Falcons of Nigeria for qualifying for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris after edging South Africa over two legs.

The Minister commended the team for their bold, energetic, and dogged performance that earned them a goalless draw in Pretoria and a 1-0 win over two legs following the win in Abuja last week.

Enoh expressed immense pride in the Super Falcons’ achievement, highlighting their performance worth ,picking the ticket to Paris.

He appreciates the coaching staff, and all Nigerians for all their efforts stating it is a win for the country. He noted that all hands must be on deck, as they prepare to represent the nation with pride and determination at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The Falcons at the Olympic will battle with Spain, Japan and Brazil in group C of the tournament.
