FIC Report (Lagos State) – The ousted Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has rejected his impeachment, saying that he remains the legitimate Speaker until the right thing is done which is following the legal procedure.
He said this while addressing a large number of his supporters at his residence in Ikeja, Lagos, on Saturday, 25th January 2025.
He said his removal was executed with a counterfeit mace which renders it null and void. He also said his impeachment is unconstitutional.
Obasa, who represents Agege Constituency I, was removed on January 13, 2025, by 32 out of the 40 members of the House, citing allegations of misconduct, abuse of office and financial impropriety.
His removal came after few weeks of been accused of spending 17billion on a gate that leads to the Assembly complex.
