FIC Report (Sokoto State) – The Sokoto State Coordinator of HIV/AIDS Sexually Infection and Viral Hepatitis Control Programme (SOSACAH), Dr. Wadata Hali, made the disclosure during a sensitization lecture in commemoration of the 2024 World AIDS Day (WAD) in Sokoto. He stated that the United Nations has set aside 1st December of every year for the commemoration of world AIDS Day.He therefore, called the attention of world leaders to affirm their commitment towards ending the HIV/AIDS pandemic Globally.

In her remarks, the State Commissioner of Health, Asabe Balarabe, represented by the Executive Secretary of SOSACAH, Bello Alkalamawa, stressed the need for the State Government to enact the law that will enforce screening before marriage and also to ensure more funding for the Agency to sustain the success recorded in the fight against HIV/AIDS so far. The State has established a network of community – based Organisations and support groups to provide counseling, support and care services to people living with HIV/AIDS in the State.

The occasion featured goodwill messages from development partners like the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Almanah Rescue Mission, and the Care Best Rescue (CBR) amongst others.
