FIC Report (Plateau State) – The presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) on Monday 25th May, 2026 commenced its Nationwide Tour in Plateau State, launching a strategic engagement with states across Nigeria aimed at deepening business-enabling reforms, strengthening collaboration with State governments, and fostering a more conducive environment for businesses and investors.
Held at The Banquet Hall, Government House, Little Rayfield Jos, the engagement brought together the Secretary to the Government of Plateau State and Chairman of Plateau State Ease of Doing Business Council, Mr Samuel N. Jatau; The Commissioner For Information and Communication, Hon. Joyce Ramnap; and other senior government officials, who welcomed the PEBEC delegation led by its Director-General, Princess Zahrah Mustapha Audu.
Declaring the engagement opened, Mr Jatau acknowledged the progress plateau State has recorded through its partnership with PEBEC, particularly in the areas of land administration and the harmonization of government levies. He noted that these reforms were contributing to efforts to improve the ease of doing business and create a more predictable operating environment for businesses in the state.
In her remarks, the PEBEC Director-General emphasized the importance of adopting the Regulatory Impact Analysis (RIA) framework to promote policy stability, enhance regulatory quality and provide greater certainty for investors. She further urged the state to establish a functional one-stop shop, strengthen investor aftercare mechanism to facilitate business retention and expansion, and identify priority investment corridors capable of attracting strategic investments to plateau State.
The engagement culminated in an interactive town hall session with members of the organized private sector, who highlighted key challenges affecting businesses, including multiple government levies and limited access to credit. Moderated by the PEBEC team, the session provided an opportunity for constructive dialogue between businesses and government officials, ensuring that reform priorities remain responsive to the practical experiences and needs of the business community.
The plateau State engagement underscores PEBEC commitment to working collaboratively with state government and the private sector to accelerate business enabling reforms, strengthen the investment climate and support sustainable economic growth across Nigeria.
