Ramadan: Obaseki urges Muslims on Piety, God’s face over Coronavirus.

FIC Report (Edo State) – The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has urged Muslim faithful to imbibe the virtue of piety and pray for God’s intervention over the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in the face of resilient efforts by the federal and state governments to stem the disease outbreak.

The governor said the sacred month of Ramadan is a period for Muslims in the state and across the country to draw closer to God, stressing on the need for them to make critical behavioural changes during this year’s fast in the face of COVID-19 challenge.

He urged them to uphold the hallmarks of the period, which include commitment to family, faith and community, and also adhere to the hygiene and safety precautions which include regular hand washing under running water, the use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers; wearing of facemasks when in public; avoiding social gathering of more than 20 persons, and as much as possible, stay at home.

Governor Obaseki said “this period is a time of reflection and dedication to God and as you observe this sacred devotion, remember to pray for peace, unity and progress in Nigeria.
