Her visit was aimed at launching an innovative alternative school program specifically designed for the girl child.

On a sunny Tuesday morning, April 23, 2024, Senator Tinubu arrived at the venue, a newly renovated facility in Osogbo, the state capital. She was warmly received by the state’s First Lady, Mrs. Kafayat Oyetola, and other dignitaries.

The alternative school program, dubbed “Empower Girls Osun,” is an initiative of the Senator’s non-profit organization, the New Era Foundation. The program aims to provide a safe and inclusive learning environment for girls who have been forced to drop out of formal education due to various reasons such as poverty, early marriage, and social stigma.

In her keynote address, Senator Tinubu emphasized the importance of girls’ education, highlighting its far-reaching benefits for individuals, communities, and the nation at large. In his goodwill message, Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke Commended the first lady Mrs Tinubu for the Renewed Hope initiative which aimed at giving girls and women the opportunity to be educated.

Dignitaries at the ground breaking and Sod – turning ceremony include, wife of the vice president, Hajia Nana shettima, wife of the Senate President, wife of the speaker National Assembly, wife of Governor’s from kwara, Oyo, Lagos, kogi, Delta, Edo and Enugu, the Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Enitan and Other government functionaries.
