Troops Recover Cache of Arms, Arrest Suspected Criminal Logistics Kingpin in Imo Forest Raid

FIC Report (Imo State) – Troops of Operation UDO KA have recorded another operational success in the ongoing efforts to combat criminality in the South-East, arresting a suspected armourer and logistics courier linked to attacks on oil installations and security personnel during a raid in Imo State.

The intelligence-led operation, carried out by troops of the Nigerian Army in the early hours of July 1, 2026, targeted the Akpe Aggah–Egbema Forest axis, where the suspected criminal was apprehended at Obiakpu Forest.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect served as the principal armourer and logistics coordinator for a criminal group allegedly responsible for attacks on oil facilities and troops operating in the Ohaji–Egbema area of the state.

During the operation, troops recovered a substantial cache of arms and ammunition, including one AK-47 rifle, one M4A1 carbine, one M16A2 rifle, six magazines, five pump-action guns, one locally fabricated pistol, and a large quantity of assorted ammunition.

The Nigerian Army stated that the recovery has significantly disrupted the operational capability and logistics network of the criminal group, further strengthening ongoing efforts to restore peace and safeguard critical national assets.

The army added that the suspect is currently in custody and undergoing further investigation to facilitate follow-up operations aimed at identifying, apprehending and dismantling other members and collaborators of the criminal network.

The successful operation underscores the Federal Government’s continued commitment, through the Armed Forces and other security agencies, to sustaining coordinated security operations aimed at protecting lives, securing critical infrastructure and enhancing peace and stability across the country.
