Minister of Interior Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo decorated the newly appointed Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service, Mrs. Adepoju Caroline Wura-ola, and six other Deputy Comptroller Generals, with their new ranks.
While performing the decorations on Wednesday in Abuja, the Minister assured the new Comptroller General that he will work with her as a team to review the whole system by injecting technology for optimal performance.
He implored her to make the workers and staff of the service at the centre what she do, no matter the deployment of technology.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo, said by so doing he said the new CG will be an eye opener to the generation that will come after her.
He said; we do not make you who you ought to be and provide what you need to achieve by securing the borders, alternatively securing the nation for you to achieve your career.
The Minister charged the new leadership of the NIS to give emphasis to border control and training, he said though the Service had not for sometimes gone on foreign training on border management, he assured that NIS will have its prides restored.
However, the other Deputy Comptroller Generals decorated along with the CG were, Auna Usman, Usman Babangida.
Other ACGs decorated with DCGs are; Zainab Lawal, Hassan Sadate, Emenike Ijeoma Chidi, and Nandap the Kemi Nanna.
Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for making this historic day a reality, he also commended CG Caroline Wura-ola, for her hard work, dedication and perseverance that brought her to the higher level she found her self.
His words; “You have successfully shattered the limitations of women folks, you are ready for equal opportunity to move forward”.
The Minister went further, encouraging the decorated Officers that it is important for them to identify their key objectives of their achievements which he said is driven by innovation and knowledge transfer.
He spurs them by saying “you need to have skills analysis and come out with recommendations to bridge the gap for optimum performance.
He warned that “any DCG that is not ready to work and meet up with the demand will receive their letter of resignation.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo instructed the decorated DCGs, that Nigerians must sleep with their eyes closed, in the discharge of their constitutional responsibility, he stated is the primary responsibility of the government in the protection of lives and properties of the citizen.
In her vote of thanks, the decorated Comptroller General of Immigration Adepoju Caroline Wura-Ola (Mrs) pledged to work with the Minister of interior for service delivery, especially in the aspect of issuance of travel documents (passport), securing the nation’s borders and to make NIS better than she met it.
