Nigeria’s delegation, led by Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, is currently at the General Assembly Hall of the United Nations Headquarters, New York, for the presentation of Nigeria’s National Statement at the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 81).
On the sidelines of UNGA 81, the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh ,SAN is seeking up to US$1 billion in investments and commercial partnerships from Silicon Valley investors over the next 12 months, as part of efforts by the Federal Government to transform locally developed research and innovations into marketable products and services.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s innovation ecosystem, attracting private-sector capital and creating pathways for the commercialisation of home-grown technologies, in line with the Federal Government’s drive to leverage Innovation, Science and Technology (STI) for economic growth and national development.
Among the dignitaries attending the session are the Honourable Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh, SAN, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Bianca Ojukwu, Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa; and Executive Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, among other senior government officials.
