The Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun, has assured the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), Finance Chapter, and the Ministry’s Joint Union Council (JUC), of better welfare services while also charging them to ensure optimum productivity in order to boost the economic growth and development of the country.

The Minister gave the assurance today in his office in Abuja, when the Ministry’s Union representatives, led by Comrade Nuhu Abubakar Bah, paid him a courtesy call.

He emphasized that the Ministry under his stewardship was fully committed to ensuring the reinvigoration of the nation’s economy in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Administration and as such, will continue to provide a conducive working environment for its workforce so as to make room for the full implementation of the policies, programmes and projects of the Federal Government that will impact on the lives of millions of Nigerians.

He urged the staff through their union representatives to work collaboratively and assiduously towards achieving the policy objectives of government for the future of our nation.

The Minister further assured the workers’ representatives that the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Administration has, without any iota of doubt, recognized the role of the Public Service in driving the policy objectives of government, and thus would do everything possible within the limited resources to ensure the provision of conducive environment for the workers to enable them render efficient service to Nigerians.

He therefore charged them to pursue their deliverables with diligence and determination, establishing clear targets, timelines, and consequences for non-compliance.

Speaking earlier, the Ministry’s Chairman, Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), Comrade Nuhu Abubakar Bah, stated that the purpose of their courtesy visit to the Honourable Minister was to heartily commend the administration of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the successful handover of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, during the 64th independence anniversary celebration.

The ceremony, he said, was a significant milestone, embodying the administration’s commitment to addressing the pressing challenges facing our nation, particularly the adverse impacts of the fuel subsidy removal.

Comrade Bah emphasized that, the leadership and clarity of purpose demonstrated by HM Edun, in leading the delegation during this handover event further underscored the administration’s dedication to ensuring that Nigerians have access to affordable and efficient transportation. The distribution of these buses through the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (PCNGi) is a clear fulfilment of Mr. President’s pledge to mitigate the burden on the poor and vulnerable, while also supporting vital macroeconomic reforms aimed at stabilizing our economy, he noted.

While assuring that the Ministry’s staff will continue to collaborate with the Management with a view to ensuring the realization of the policy objectives of government, the union sought improved working conditions, better compensation packages, enhanced staff welfare, capacity building initiatives as well as opportunities for professional growth and development in order to boost staff morale, thus contributing ultimately to the Ministry’s effectiveness in the realization of its mandate.

The workers’ representatives also commended the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun, for his starling leadership, unwavering support to staff development and welfare, the Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Finance Mrs Lydia Shehu Jafiya, and the Ministry’s Directors for their commitment in ensuring the full implementation of the policies, programmes and projects of the Federal Government with a view to enhancing economic growth and development of our nation.

HM Edun’s meeting with the Ministry’s Joint Union Council underscored the Ministry’s dedication to fostering a productive and efficient work environment.

By prioritizing staff welfare and capacity building, the Ministry aims to drive economic growth, attract foreign direct investments , and improve the overall standard of living for all Nigerians in line with the policy thrust of the present administration.
