Government has assured of a more robust partnership with the National Agency for the Control of AIDS, for coordinated and sustained advocacy for HIV/AIDS expanded Responses in the state. The Secretary to the State Government, Professor Kenneth Kalu who gave the assurance when he received in audience a delegation from the National Agency for the Control of AIDS in his office pointed out that the present administration under the leadership of Dr Alex Otti is people oriented and will focus more on key intervention programmes geared towards putting smiles on the faces of the citizens. Prof. Kalu called for sincere effort and commitment from critical stakeholders in the rebuilding of an Abia of our dream. Speaking earlier, the leader of the team and Director Resource Mobilisation NACA head office, Mrs Josephine Kalu said that the essence of the visit was to congratulate the SSG on his appointment as the chief scribe of the State and to appeal to Government to prioritize HIV/AIDS control and be more involved in the financing of the HIV Response in the State. She explained that the State has 2.1 percent prevalence higher than the national prevalence of 1.3 percent during the 2018 National Survey hence requires enough attention and she enumerated areas where the state should be involved to include management of services, strategic Engagement and communications among others. In their contributions, the Acting Director Administration, SACA, Mrs Ekeoma, NACA Zonal Coordinator, Dr Miriam Ezekwe advocated for more collaboration from the State Government.
