FIC Report (Kano State) – Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to completing the Wuju Wuju Road project and addressing the long-standing challenges of the dilapidated Zungeru Road.
During an inspection of the Jakara Culvert along Zungeru Road in the Sabon Gari area, the governor emphasized the importance of these infrastructure projects in improving traffic flow, enhancing the state’s aesthetics, and alleviating flooding issues.
The Wuju Wuju Road project, which begins at Aminu Kano Way and ends at Airport Road, had been abandoned by the previous administration despite its potential to ease vehicular movement. Governor Yusuf revealed that his administration had already completed the first phase of the road, spanning from Aminu Kano Way to Aisami in Gwale Local Government Area. He assured residents that work on the remaining sections passing through Dala, Fagge, and Ungogo areas would soon commence.
To prevent flooding and further damage, the governor urged residents to avoid dumping refuse into the Jakara Culvert, which has contributed to flooding incidents resulting in loss of lives and property.
Regarding Zungeru Road, Governor Yusuf announced that its reconstruction would soon be approved, with contractors expected to hire local youth to provide employment opportunities. He appealed to the community to cooperate with contractors for the successful execution of the project.
The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Marwan Ahmad, confirmed that the contract for Zungeru Road reconstruction was in its final stages and assured prompt action.
Governor Yusuf reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering impactful projects that would enhance Kano State’s infrastructure and residents’ quality of life.
