Abia Governor Urges NYSC Members to Leverage Opportunities for Growth

FIC Report (Abia State) – Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti OFR , has charged National Youth Service Corps members to seize the opportunities available to them during their service year to learn, grow, and develop skills that will benefit them in life.

The Governor made this call at the swearing-in ceremony of Batch A Stream 11 Corps members at the NYSC permanent Orientation, camp Umunna, Bende L.G.A, Abia State.

Governor Otti who was ably represented by Deputy Governor Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu FNSE assured the corps members that his administration is working closely with NYSC management to ensure a productive and fulfilling service year. He emphasized that the corps members are critical partners in the state’s national transformation efforts and the New Abia Project Blueprint, which focuses on institutional and structural reforms, sustained economic growth, and development.

The Governor urged the corps members to make worthy contributions to the development of their host communities, promising that his administration will create a safe and enabling environment that fosters innovation.
“I encourage you to be creative, innovative, and proactive in identifying solutions to the challenges facing our society,” he said.

In his speech, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development and Chairman, NYSC State Governing Board, Sir Nwaobilor Ananaba, noted that the Abia State Government places a high premium on hard work and excellence, rewarding exemplary performance and outstanding contributions by corps members. He urged the corps members to aim to render selfless service to Abia State and the nation.

Earlier in her address, the State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs. Gladys Adama, appreciated Governor Otti for gracing the occasion and for the ongoing rehabilitation of the Orientation camp. She appealed to the Governor to assist in rehabilitating the state secretariat, which is in disrepair.

Mrs Adama noted that the orientation course programme is designed to equip corps members for nation building and the challenges ahead. She urged them to participate fully in the programme.

The event which marked the beginning of the corp members service year in Abia State was attended by dignitaries, including the Representatives of State Chief Judge and Commander 14 Brigade Nigeria Army, Ohafia.
