FIC Report (Benue State) – The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at a clinic in London, United Kingdom.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, mnipr, Governor Alia described the late President as a man of integrity and unwavering patriotism, whose commitment to national development remained steadfast throughout his lifetime.

According to the statement, Governor Alia recalled that President Buhari served the country with courage and discipline—first as a military Head of State from January 1984 to August 1985, and later as a democratically elected President from 2015 to 2023. He emphasized that the former President left an enduring legacy in Nigeria’s history, always prioritizing national interest above personal or political considerations.

“The country has lost a statesman, a patriot, and a leader who dedicated his life to the service of Nigeria,” the Governor said, as quoted by the CPS. He offered prayers for God’s comfort upon the former President’s family, the government and people of Katsina State, and the entire nation, while also asking for the peaceful repose of his soul.

The Government and people of Benue State join millions of Nigerians in mourning the loss of this iconic national figure.
