Military Sensitization Exercise In Ebonyi Boosts Awareness Of Recruitment Opportunities In Nigeria

FIC Report (Ebonyi State) – A high-powered delegation of Nigerian military officers conducted a sensitization exercise at the Abakaliki Local Government Area Headquarters, Nkaliki, aimed at increasing awareness and participation of Ebonyi people in the ongoing military recruitment exercise in Nigeria.

Leading the delegation, Brigadier General UC Nnabuihe of the Department of Army Administration, Army Headquarters Abuja, emphasized that the initiative was designed to properly inform the people of Ebonyi State about the recruitment process and encourage greater involvement of indigenes.

Addressing a gathering of traditional rulers, stakeholders, and youth representatives, Brigadier General Nnabuihe stressed the importance of Ebonyians taking advantage of the opportunity to serve in the Nigerian Army. He cautioned against allowing individuals from other regions to fill slots meant for the state.

The delegation included the Commander, Sector 2, Operation Udoka, Nkwagu Military Cantonment, Lt. Colonel IE Chidi, alongside other senior officers such as Lt. Colonel OA Ijakpa, Lt. Colonel EU Modozie, Lt. Colonel OU Osawe, and Major AA Agbo.

The military officers called on traditional rulers and parents to encourage their children and wards to consider a career in the Nigerian Army, highlighting the role of the military in safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity and the numerous benefits associated with service.

The interactive session also allowed participants to ask questions, share concerns, and highlight challenges that may be discouraging enlistment. The officers assured attendees that the issues raised would be addressed, while reiterating the Army’s commitment to supporting willing and qualified candidates.

Participants were further urged to promote patriotism by either joining the military or supporting others to enlist, describing military service as both a noble duty and a rewarding career path.

In their responses, the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Uchenna Igwe and the Chairman of the Ebonyi State Traditional Rulers Council, HRH Eze Charles Mkpuma, expressed appreciation to the military for the initiative. They assured the delegation that the message would be disseminated across communities in the state to ensure widespread awareness and adequate participation of all the communities in Ebonyi State.
