The Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development has inaugurated its Ministerial Training Committee as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen capacity development, enhance staff productivity, and build a more efficient and future-ready workforce within the Ministry and its agencies.

The inauguration ceremony was held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at the Permanent Secretary’s Conference Room in Abuja.

In his opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Mahmud Adam Kambari, FCNA, FICA, described the inauguration as both an honour and a call to service, noting that the Committee’s assignment is critical to the achievement of the Ministry’s strategic objectives.

He stated that the Committee is expected to promote productivity, innovation, discipline, and professionalism through well structured and impactful training programmes tailored to the evolving needs of the Ministry.

Kambari charged members of the Committee to ensure that all training programmes are demand driven, competency based, cost effective, equitable, transparent, and aligned with the operational priorities of the Ministry as well as broader national development goals.

He further emphasised that capacity development should extend beyond technical competencies to include leadership development, ethics, teamwork, communication, and emotional intelligence.

He outlined the Committee’s Terms of Reference which includes the development and coordination of the Ministry’s annual training and capacity development plan, identification of competency gaps and training needs across departments, units, and relevant agencies, review and recommendation of suitable local and international training programmes, and ensuring that training nominations are transparent, merit based, equitable.

Other responsibilities include monitoring and evaluation of effective training programmes on staff productivity and service delivery; ensuring alignment of all training initiatives and submission of periodic reports and recommendations to the Permanent Secretary on training activities, outcomes, and areas requiring intervention.

Kambari urged members of the Committee to justify the confidence reposed in them by working collaboratively towards building a highly skilled, motivated, innovative, and service oriented workforce for the Ministry.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the Director of Human Resources, Ejike Osibe, described the inauguration of the Ministerial Training Committee as a significant and timely development for the Ministry and its agencies.

He noted that the Committee would promote inclusiveness across departments and enhance the achievement of institutional goals through coordinated capacity building initiatives.

The inaugurated Ministerial Training Committee is chaired by the Director of Human Resources Management, Ejike Osibe, with membership drawn from relevant departments and agencies of the Ministry.
