FIC Report (Ebonyi State) – School administrators and examination officials in Ebonyi State have commended improvements in the coordination of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), following the smooth conduct of the Mathematics paper across centres in Abakaliki.
The Principal of Presco High Secondary School, Abakaliki, Mr. Peter Ujebe, attributed the orderly conduct of the examination to adequate preparation by students and reforms introduced by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC). He said candidates comported themselves responsibly and dismissed allegations of examination malpractice in his school.
Mr Ujebe also highlighted infrastructural challenges facing the institution, while acknowledging the intervention of the school’s Old Boys Association, which he said had supported renovation and fencing projects, with further works expected during its September convention.
At Jesus Is Lord International School, Abakaliki, the Principal, Mr. Emeka Ajoku, described the examination atmosphere as peaceful and free from malpractice. Although he noted that delays were experienced on some previous examination days, he said the delivery of materials for the Mathematics paper was timely.
Mr Ajoku linked earlier delays partly to coordination issues associated with Computer-Based Testing (CBT) but maintained that the exercise remained orderly. He further stressed the need for strong academic foundations, urging educators to prioritize quality teaching and student development.
Also speaking, the WAEC Supervisor at Rightstep International Secondary School, Abakaliki, Mrs. Ogechi Chima, described the examination as smooth and incident-free. She said candidates complied with examination regulations throughout the exercise and urged supervisors nationwide to remain diligent in the discharge of their duties.
The ongoing WASSCE continues across the country amid efforts by stakeholders to strengthen examination management, curb malpractice and improve educational standards.
