The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu on behalf of the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria extends its warm congratulations to Dr. András Baka on his election as the new President of Hungary.
The Government and people of Nigeria commend the Hungarian National Assembly on the successful conclusion of the presidential election and extend best wishes to Dr. Baka as he prepares to assume the high office of President of Hungary.
Nigeria notes with appreciation Dr. Baka’s distinguished career in the Hungarian and international judiciary, including his service as President of Hungary’s Supreme Court and as a Judge of the European Court of Human Rights. His extensive judicial experience and commitment to the rule of law, constitutional governance and the independence of institutions are qualities that will be valuable in the discharge of his responsibilities as Head of State.
The Government of Nigeria is confident that, under President-elect Baka’s leadership, Hungary will continue to advance democratic values, the rule of law, institutional stability and national unity, while strengthening its constructive engagement with the international community.
Nigeria attaches great importance to its longstanding and cordial relations with Hungary and looks forward to further deepening bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including political and diplomatic relations, trade and investment, education, culture, science and technology, and constructive people-to-people exchanges.
The Federal Government of Nigeria wishes Dr. András Baka a successful tenure in office and assures the Government and people of Hungary of Nigeria’s continued friendship and commitment to strengthening the bonds of cooperation and understanding between both countries.
