FIC REPORT (PLATEAU STATE) – In a show of solidarity with the Nigerian Armed Forces and the families of the victims, Plateau State Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has mourned the military personnel and other lives lost in the Nigerian Air Force ATR-42 aircraft crash near the Naval Base in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, describing the incident as a painful loss to the nation.
In a statement issued on Tuesday 26th of October, 2026, Governor Mutfwang said the tragedy was particularly distressing given the sacrifices being made by personnel of the Nigerian Armed Forces in protecting the country and maintaining national security.
He commiserated with the bereaved families, colleagues and associates of the victims, acknowledging the commitment and dedication of the fallen personnel to national service.
The Governor also extended his condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Nigerian Air Force, the Armed Forces of Nigeria and the government and people of the country over the incident.
Mutfwang prayed for comfort and strength for the families affected by the tragedy and asked God to grant eternal rest to those who lost their lives in the crash.
He conveyed the solidarity of the Plateau State Government and people to all those affected, describing the loss as one that would be deeply felt by the nation and the military community.
