The North Central region on Saturday delivered a powerful demonstration of political solidarity and grassroots mobilisation as the North Central Grassroots Mobilisation Network for Tinubu and Shettima 2027 held a grand rally at Lafia Square, Nasarawa State, drawing an extraordinary crowd of supporters, party faithful, community leaders, women, youths and political stakeholders from across the six states of the region.

The rally, hosted by the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, brought together the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu; the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe; the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume; the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma; and other eminent national and regional leaders in a resounding show of support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in 2027.

Also in attendance were the governors of Niger, Benue, Plateau, Kogi and Kwara States, alongside their Nasarawa State host, as well as the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris Malagi, minister of women affairs, Hon Imaan Suleiman among other ministers

The First Lady was accompanied by the First Ladies of the six North Central states, underscoring the central role of women in the mobilisation effort and the growing coordination of women’s political structures in support of the Tinubu-Shettima ticket.

From the major roads leading to Lafia Square to the rally venue itself, enthusiastic supporters turned out in overwhelming numbers, waving party flags, displaying banners, singing solidarity songs and chanting messages of support for President Tinubu. The massive turnout and the visible presence of political leaders from across the region transformed Lafia into a vibrant centre of political mobilisation and a defining moment in the North Central campaign for 2027.

Addressing the mammoth gathering, the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, expressed delight at returning to Nasarawa State and commended the organisers for assembling such an impressive gathering of political leaders and supporters from the six North Central states.

She specifically acknowledged the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, the Grand Patron of the North Central Grassroots Mobilisation Network, for his leadership and commitment to bringing stakeholders together. She also commended the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, for his role in organising the rally to formally strengthen the campaign for the President’s re-election.

She disclosed that women across the country were already consolidating their political structures under the APC Women Presidential Campaign Council, with the objective of bringing their mobilisation efforts together into a coordinated and effective platform for President Tinubu’s re-election.

According to her, the initiative reflects the determination of APC women to work collectively, reach households and communities, engage voters and communicate the administration’s policies and achievements more effectively.

Referring to the President’s Independence Day address, the First Lady noted that the administration had undertaken significant reforms across critical sectors of the economy and that the country must now consolidate those reforms to translate them into greater prosperity and improved living conditions for Nigerians.

She also highlighted the infrastructure development taking place across the states, the administration’s attention to healthcare, particularly maternal health and the welfare of pregnant women, and the importance of educational support programmes, including student loans provided through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).

She emphasised that the ultimate objective of the administration was to build a stronger economy, expand opportunities and create a better Nigeria in which citizens could look forward to a more secure and prosperous future.

In his address, the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, congratulated the organisers of the rally for what he described as one of the most successful and impressive political mobilisation gatherings in support of President Tinubu’s re-election.
Professor Yilwatda commended the North Central Grassroots Mobilisation Network for bringing together leaders, party structures and ordinary citizens from across the region around a common political objective. He particularly acknowledged the contributions of the SGF, the host governor and other stakeholders whose collaboration made the gathering possible.

The APC National Chairman said President Tinubu deserved a second term because of his determination to place Nigeria on a sustainable path of development, undertake difficult but necessary reforms and lay the foundation for a stronger and more prosperous economy.

Professor Yilwatda further argued that the North Central had witnessed significant federal attention and development under President Tinubu, insisting that the region had compelling reasons to consolidate its relationship with the administration.

He called on the people of the North Central to reciprocate the President’s commitment to the region by turning out in overwhelming numbers to vote for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket in January 2027, while also supporting APC candidates at other levels of government.

The Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma, commended the organisers for assembling political leaders and supporters from across the North Central and for providing a platform to consolidate support for the Renewed Hope administration.

He said the reforms undertaken by President Tinubu were necessary to reposition the country for sustainable development and urged Nigerians to consider the broader objectives of the administration as the country navigated its economic transformation.

Senator Uzodimma called on the people of the North Central to come out en masse during the January 2027 elections and vote for President Tinubu, Vice President Shettima and other APC candidates.

The governors and other political leaders who addressed the rally expressed support for the administration’s reform agenda and highlighted the importance of federal-state cooperation in advancing infrastructure, economic development, security and social welfare.

Governor Abdullahi A. Sule, the host governor, welcomed the First Lady and other dignitaries to Nasarawa State and commended the people of the North Central for their impressive turnout. He emphasised the importance of unity, effective political organisation and sustained engagement with citizens as the region prepared for the 2027 elections.
