North Central APC endorses Tinubu for second term in forth coming Election in 2027

FIC REPORT (NASARAWA STATE) – The All-Progressives Congress (APC) in the North Central has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027, with party leaders from the zone adopting him as their sole presidential candidate in the next general election.

The endorsement was made at a mega rally held at Lafia Square, Nasarawa State, on Saturday, hosted by Governor Abdullahi Sule, chairman of the North Central Progressive Governors Forum. Governors from Nasarawa, Benue, Niger and Plateau states attended, while those of Kwara and Kogi were represented. The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, was also present.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and APC political leader in the North Central, Senator George Akume, moved the motion for Tinubu’s adoption, which was seconded by Governor Sule and carried by acclamation.

Akume said the president’s economic reforms, infrastructure projects and commitment to fiscal federalism were among the reasons the zone was backing his re-election.

He cited the removal of the petrol subsidy, the construction of major highways, increased allocations to states and local governments, and the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as key policies of the administration.

Akume also urged political leaders in the North to respect the power-sharing understanding reached in 1999, which provides for the rotation of the presidency between the North and South.

“By the authority of this great congregation, I, Senator George Akume, do now propose this very important and historic motion that the people of the North Central states, meeting here, have resolved that come 2027, our sole candidate for that election is His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. There is no other candidate,” he said.

Seconding the motion, Governor Sule said the president’s policies on the economy, infrastructure and education had provided grounds for the party’s endorsement.

He cited improvements in crude oil production, foreign reserves and stock market capitalization, as well as the introduction of NELFUND, as indicators of progress under the Tinubu administration.

“I, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule, the governor of Nasarawa State, second the motion that all the APC North Central states of Benue, Plateau, Niger, Kogi, Kwara and Nasarawa, as well as the FCT, endorse Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term,” he said.

The motion was put to a voice vote and declared carried by Akume, who urged party members to work towards its realization.

The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, urged APC supporters to take the administration’s policies and programmes to their communities, saying sustained engagement with voters would be crucial ahead of the 2027 election.

She said the government was moving from economic reforms towards prosperity, citing infrastructure development, economic stabilization, support for vulnerable women and children, and student financing.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a leader who is very bold and not afraid to take difficult decisions. He is a leader who can be trusted to lead us to prosperity,” she said.

Mrs. Tinubu urged party members to remain united and mobilizes support for Tinubu and other APC candidates across the country.

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, speaking on behalf of the Progressive Governors Forum and the presidential campaign leadership, said the rally also provided an opportunity to assess the zone’s preparedness for the 2027 election.

He called on APC leaders to resolve internal disagreements and promote unity and inclusiveness, saying the party’s 31 governors were committed to Tinubu’s re-election.

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang said the North Central had gathered to acknowledge what he described as the president’s contributions to infrastructure and development in the region.

He cited federal infrastructure projects and interventions for internally displaced persons and vulnerable communities in Plateau State, adding that the state was committed to supporting Tinubu’s re-election.

Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu, the APC’s 2027 governorship candidate in Nasarawa State, also attributed improvements in economic indicators and infrastructure to Tinubu’s policies.

Wadada cited developments in the solid minerals sector and the conversion of the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, into a university of mining and technology as examples of federal support for the state.

In his welcome address, Governor Sule urged APC members across the North Central to mobilize for Tinubu and other party candidates, stressing the need for coordinated support at all levels.

He pledged that Nasarawa State would deliver its votes for the president in 2027 and called on party members to support APC candidates from the presidency to the state and local government levels.

The rally ended with calls by party leaders for unity, grassroots mobilization and sustained engagement ahead of the 2027 general election.
