ABUJA (Federal Ministry of Interior Report) – The Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau (Rtd Lt Gen) has reiterated the urgent need for heads of various internal security agencies in the country to synergize among themselves, particularly in the area of intelligence sharing with the view to bringing the emerging security challenges facing the country to its barest minimum.
He made this call recently when he held an emergency security meeting with all heads of internal security agencies in the country. He also explained that through combined intelligence and analysis of data backed with prompt and appropriate professional action, the efforts of security agencies to curtail all forms of armed bandits who launch indiscriminate attacks on peaceful communities from their hideouts across the country would be addressed promptly.
The Minister further noted that the inability of people living in rural communities to access mobile network service provision often leads to late arrival of help in their time of attack as they are usually unable to communicate promptly to concerned security agencies.
Dambazau assured the security agencies of government’s resolve to address all forms of logistics affecting the operational capabilities of security personnel, particularly in areas such as capacity building, welfare services and hardware.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Mohammed Bello Umar (Dr) in his welcome address stated that the incessant spate of insecurity has greatly disrupted economic activities in the country as it has led to increase in poverty levels and brought untold hardships to Nigerians.
He called on participants at the summit to brainstorm with a view to providing a road map that may be considered by government towards tackling internal security challenges in the country.
