………………Tasks LG Chairmen to keying into government policies.
FIC Report (Nasarawa State) – Governor Abdullahi Sule has issued marching orders to permanent secretaries, pending the reconstitution of the state executive council, on the need for them to sustain the tempo, in line with the goals of his administration.
Governor Sule handed down the orders during a meeting with permanent secretaries and local government chairmen at the Government House on Monday.
The Governor warned that during the remaining two years, his administration would aggressively pursue its goals, especially in the implementation of the 2025 budget.
He said that as the engine room of their various ministries, the permanent secretaries are expected to hit the ground running.
“We want to be aggressive in these last two years. We want to do the best we can. The people of Nasarawa State expect a lot, and we are also seeing a lot coming to us, and we want to do the best,” he said.
This is just as Governor Sule tasked local government chairmen to equally key into the development drive of his administration.
Governor Sule informed the permanent secretaries that before he dissolved his state executive council, a lot of things have been lined up for execution, urging them to tighten their belts and not to slow down his administration.
“I don’t want anything to slow down. We have a lot of things already lined up, and for me, that is even the best way to taste your capacity. You are referred to as the engine room of the various ministries and let the engine actually get working. It’s time for you to get things working,” he stated.
He used the opportunity of the meeting to further appreciate the outgone commissioners, commending them for their loyalty and support.
The Governor assured that some of the outgone commissioners would be reappointed to assist his administration drive it’s development agenda.
“I am looking forward to ensuring that even the ones we are bringing back as commissioners we are bringing people that we believe are square pegs in square holes. That way, we will be able to fit in perfectly and drive our budget,” he said.
He further urged the permanent secretaries to always seek clarification whenever they encounter challenges.
The Governor also called on the local government chairmen in the state to buy into the development agenda of his administration with a view to spreading development across the state.
He announced that for the first time ever, local government areas in the state are received N461m each disbursed by the Federal Government as signature bonus.
He warned them against misusing the funds, which he said should be channeled for development initiatives.
“The Federal Government has disbursed the money. Every local government is going to get about N461m. It is your money. Not one naira is coming to the state. We are not taking any part of your money,” he said.
He however warned that his administration would strictly monitor the utilization of the funds, directing the council chairmen to submit their proposals on how they will use the funds and to liaise with the permanent secretaries in order to align with his administration’s development agenda.
Speaking particularly on agriculture, Governor Sule pleaded with the chairmen to buy into the agricultural policy of his administration as Nasarawa State is expected to lead the way in the agricultural sector of the country’s economy.
“The only way we can lead the way is if you embrace our aspect of agriculture,” he told the chairmen.
Krestnew.com recalls that only last week, the Governor distributed tractors and rice seedlings to the thirteen local government chairmen of the state, urging them to emulate his administration’s initiative in Jangwa, where 2000 hecatare of land wascultivated for rice.
