The Federal Ministry of Education, in collaboration with Global Partners, achieved a significant milestone during the 7th Meeting of the Nigeria Education Group (NEG) held at the UN House in Abuja. Chaired by the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack OON, mni, and co-chaired by Saadhna Panday-Soobrayan from the Global Partners, the meeting heralded groundbreaking advancements in Nigeria’s education landscape.

Mrs Walson-Jack provided comprehensive insights into ongoing projects within the education sector, underscoring the commitment of all stakeholders towards achieving tangible outcomes. The NEG, established in 2013, serves as a vital conduit for operationalizing the Global Partnership for Education’s (GPE) initiatives, in conjunction with government resources, to drive meaningful policy dialogues and ensure effective coordination of support within the sector.

The meeting showcased the Federal Ministry of Education’s unwavering dedication to implementing key policies aimed at delivering systemic improvements, particularly at the basic education level. The Ministry’s robust roadmap, coupled with strategic operational plans and task teams, underscores its proactive approach towards achieving desired educational outcomes.

Highlighting the next steps, Mrs Didi outlined a series of activities, including technical workshops, ongoing sensitization campaigns, and quarterly review meetings, aimed at tracking progress and fostering continuous improvement.

Central to these advancements are the newly introduced DOTS policies, which focus on critical areas such as Data repository, Out-of-school children’s education, Teachers training and development and Skills development and acquisition. These policies are poised to revolutionize the Education sector, aligning seamlessly with the Ministry’s 23 Ministerial deliverables and laying a solid foundation for sustainable progress.
