The Federal Ministry of Tourism, under the leadership of Minister Lola Ade-John, embarked on a transformative journey to bolster Nigeria’s tourism landscape through strategic partnerships and skill development initiatives. The recent launch of the EcoGenesis Incubator Series in Ekiti State, in collaboration with the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR), marks a significant milestone in advancing sustainable tourism entrepreneurship and fostering economic growth.

The EcoGenesis Incubator Series aims to equip local residents, tour operators, and guides with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in the tourism industry. Recognizing the pivotal role of skilled professionals in elevating Nigeria’s tourism sector, Minister Lola Ade-John emphasized the importance of continuous training and capacity building during her visit to Ekiti State.

Accompanied by Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, Minister Lola Ade-John embarked on a Mountain Hike, immersing herself in the natural splendor of Ekiti while engaging in discussions about the state’s tourism potential. Governor Oyebanji seized the opportunity to seek Federal Government support in developing Ekiti State’s Tourism Development Master Plan, aimed at revitalizing the economy and enhancing the state’s revenue base.

During her visit to the historic Palace of Oluyin of Iyin-Ekiti, Oba Adeniyi Ajakaye, Minister Lola Ade-John expressed admiration for Ekiti’s cultural heritage and pledged Federal Government collaboration to harness the state’s tourism treasures. She highlighted the promising future of tourism in Ekiti State and urged stakeholders to seize the opportunity to unlock its full potential.

In her opening remarks at the Hike Ekiti Mountain Safari/EcoGenesis Incubator Series launch event held at Abanijorin Rock in Iyin-Ekiti, Minister Lola Ade-John commended the natural wonders of Ekiti State, including its lush forests, scenic waterfalls, and picturesque hills. She emphasized the significance of adventure tourism and underscored the importance of sustainable tourism practices in preserving Nigeria’s natural and cultural heritage.

The event brought together key stakeholders including Governor Biodun Oyebanji, Barrister Wale Ojo-Lanre (DG, Bureau of Tourism Development, Ekiti State), and community leaders, fostering collaboration and dialogue to drive tourism development in Ekiti State and beyond.

In addition to launching the EcoGenesis Incubator Series, Minister Lola Ade-John visited the iconic Ikogosi Warm Springs Resort, highlighting its historical significance, natural beauty, and immense tourism potential. She underscored the importance of infrastructure development, community engagement, and promotion efforts in enhancing visitor experiences and driving economic growth in Nigeria’s tourism sector.

The Minister reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting the development of tourism infrastructure, policies, and regulations to position destinations like Ikogosi Warm Springs Resort as world-class tourist attractions. She called for continued collaboration and partnerships among stakeholders to maximize the potential of Nigeria’s tourism industry.

As Nigeria strives to harness its tourism potential for economic growth and cultural exchange, initiatives like the EcoGenesis Incubator Series and strategic partnerships with state governments are instrumental in realizing this vision. Minister Lola Ade-John’s visit to Ekiti State signals a renewed commitment to sustainable tourism development and underscores the importance of collaboration in driving Nigeria’s tourism agenda forward.
