PRESS RELEASE
It has come to the knowledge of the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation that some unscrupulous elements have created social media accounts and parading themselves in the platforms as the Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF). By their acts, they are and may be defrauding unsuspecting members of the public.
The OAGF has reported the nefarious activities of the scammers to the Department of State Services (DSS). It is gratifying to note that the action has started yielding results, as one IZUAGIE MOHAMMED, one of the scammers has been arrested by security operatives in Benin City, Edo State on August 24th, 2016 for impersonating the AGF.
It is further revealed that Mohammed, using a bogus face book account where he poses as the Accountant-General of Nigeria, had already defrauded some unwary members of the public, by promising to help them facilitate access to the Central Bank Empowerment Loans, among other dubious claims.
The general public is hereby notified that the Accountant-General of the Federation, Mr. Ahmed Idris, as a thorough-breed professional, DOES NOT transact businesses on Facebook or any other social media platform nor facilitates access to loans for anyone.
The office hereby advises the general public to be wary of the activities of fraudsters, as they go about their businesses, especially, while using the social media.
