SERVICOM calls for stronger collaborations with NASS to strengthen Service Delivery in Nigeria

The National Coordinator / CEO SERVICOM Presidency, Mrs. Nnenna Akajemeli has called for stronger collaborations with the key leadership of the National Assembly that would strengthen efficient service delivery initiatives of the Federal Government.

This call was made when she paid a courtesy / familiarization visit to the Chairman House Committee on Governmental Affairs of the National Assembly today 29th August, 2023.

Mrs. Akajemeli while presenting her opening remarks called on the Leadership of the Committee on Governmental Affairs to collaborate with the National SERVICOM to ensure the passage of the SERVICOM Bill tagged the SERVICE COMPACT MANAGEMENT BILL 2020.

The National Coordinator further stated that SERVICOM is seeking for assent to this bill asThe Bill for the enactment of the Service Compact Management Agency “SERVICOM”, when passed, will bring the initiative for improved service delivery within the requirement of Nigeria’s international obligation as approved by President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, under Commitment “16” of Nigeria’s Open Government Partnership.

Furthermore, the bill will also provide for a legal/legislative foundation for the continued operation of the initiative as well as give SERVICOM the “legal teeth” to compel compliance with the provisions of the law and sanction non-compliance as provided for in the Bill.

She Further stated that the bill would provide an avenue for citizens to demand for and receive improved services as well as provide useful feedback for remediation of service failure whenever it occurs.

In addition, she said, the bill would save the nations billions of Naira in the opportunity cost of service failures, inefficient service delivery and poor customer/citizens’ satisfaction.

While speaking on the passage of the Bill the National Coordinator added that once the Bill is passed it would hold Service Providers more accountable to the Nigerian Citizens and make governance more realistic.

In his response, the Chairman of the Committee on Governmental Affairs, Honourable Abdullahi Aliyu Ahmed, said that the leadership of the Committee will work closely with the SERVICOM Presidency to ensure that Nigerians are given top priority in the area of quality service delivery they deserve service wide.
