The SERVICOM Office, Presidency has officially inaugurated the Parastatal SERVICOM Unit and Committee (PSU/PSC) of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF).

The inauguration came with a strategic charge for the Fund’s management to deepen its ownership of service delivery initiatives, aiming to drive a more profound and lasting impact on Nigerian citizens.

The Acting National Coordinator and CEO of SERVICOM, Mrs. Helen Lawal, made this call during an official working visit to the PTDF Head Office in Abuja on 16th July, 2026. During the visit, she warmly commended the leadership of the PTDF for its proactive efforts in embedding service excellence within the agency’s daily operations.

In her address, Mrs. Lawal emphasized that the fundamental purpose of government is to serve the people, noting: “Government is about the people; the quality of governance is determined by the quality of services delivered to citizens and the extent to which these services meet their needs and expectations. Public service is the only contact that most citizens have with the Government.”

Because public service represents this singular direct contact, she stressed that achieving world-class service delivery was no longer optional. She added that “the lives of citizens must be touched through PTDF services especially in capacity building for Nigerians.”

The working visit served to present SERVICOM policy briefs, secure management buy-in, induct the newly formed committee, and sensitize staff on the implementation of the PTDF Service Charter. Mrs. Lawal outlined that the Parastatal SERVICOM Unit must be structured with competent personnel managing critical desks. These include desks dedicated to charter formulation, implementation, and review, customer care and complaints resolution, and service improvement.

Additionally, she explained that the Parastatal SERVICOM Committee—comprising representatives from various departments needed to meet at least once a month to network, share information, and align operations with citizen-focused standards.

On staff sensitization, she noted: “Sensitising staff of PTDF is essential for building a responsive, efficient and citizen-friendly public service system, improving quality of public service delivery, ensuring staff understand citizens’ rights and expectations, promoting accountability and transparency, and reducing delays and inefficiency in service delivery.”

To sustain these standards, she advocated for continuous training in customer care and complaint management through the SERVICOM Institute. She also stressed the importance of publicising the PTDF Service Charter across multiple media channels as a strategic document of trust between the service provider and the public.

Responding to the delegation, the Executive Secretary of the PTDF, Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, expressed his gratitude to the Acting National Coordinator for her visit and for clarifying the operational expectations of SERVICOM units within government agencies.

Professor Aliyu acknowledged the vital role of the Service Charter in raising public awareness about the Fund’s performance metrics. He reaffirmed the PTDF’s commitment to prioritising human capital development as a key tool to achieving its overarching mandate.

He assured the delegation that: “PTDF is committed to ensuring that SERVICOM staff participate actively in training organised by the SERVICOM Institute both locally and internationally within available resources to enable them deliver on their mandate efficiently and effectively.”
