FIC Report (Sokoto State) – The Sokoto state Governor, Ahamed Aliyu, on Monday extolled the exceptional leadership of president Bola Ahamed Tinubu, saying that he is putting the nation on the right path.
The state Governor, said this while declaring open the 2026 Caliphate Bar Law week, with the theme, “Secured Nation, Secured Future.
According to the Governor, president Tinubu has been piloting the affairs of the nation diligently and patriotically, remarking, “he is putting Nigeria on the positive and the right path.”
Declaring the event as epochal, the Governor, reiterated the unequivocal commitment of his administration to the promotion of the rule of law. He further acknowledged the existing cordial relationship between his administration and the Bar, declaring that his Government has intensified efforts to bolster the administration of Justice.
This, he added, was evident in routine promotion of Judicial officers at all levels, as well as the execution of a myriad of projects aimed at providing a conducive atmosphere for Judicial officers to operate.
The Governor, recalled that his administration had recruited Fourteen new judges, seven each for the state High Court and the state Sharia Court of Appeal. Brand new vehicles were also provided for the new judges in a bid to make them more comfortable to operate. He also disclosed that the state Government had recently awarded a N4 billion contract for the construction of a new High Court Complex, as well as another for the rehabilitation of the Sharia Court of Appeal.
He also informed the audience that another contract had been awarded for the construction of three new office complexes for the Sokoto state Ministry of Justice.
In his remarks, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, who described his visit as a home coming, lauded the existing cordial relationship between the three arms of government in the state. He said, “This is worthy of emulation as development can only be achieved in such a friendly atmosphere.”
The Minister also acknowledged what he called a mature governance structure in Sokoto state.”This is worthy of emulation by all states.”
Also speaking, the Minister of state for works, Barrister Bello Muhammad Goronyo, commended the state chapter of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) for promoting the rule of law, acknowledging the sustained support of Governor Ahamed Aliyu.
The highlights of the event were the launching of the Caliphate Law Journa, with Governor Ahamed Aliyu donating N30 million in that regard. The NBA also bestowed the Sokoto state Governor with an exceptional leadership award in recognition of his exceptional leadership in Sokoto state and beyond, as well as his commitment to the rule of law.
The event was attended by prominent dignitaries including the SSG to the state Government, Muhammad Bello Sifawa, the Attorney General of the state and Commissioner of Justice, Barrister Nasiru Muhammad Binji, the chairperson of the NBA is Sokoto, Barrister Rasheeda Muhammad, among others.
