World Feed The Poor Day: Mrs Otti Calls For Concerted Effort To Alleviate Burdens Of Hunger

The Wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs Priscilla Otti has called on well meaning Abians, individuals and organizations to re-evaluate their priorities and join hands in alleviating the burdens of hunger and deprivation plaguing millions around the globe.

Mrs Otti made the call in Umuahia in during the “World Feed the Poor Day”, celebrated by her office in conjunction with offices of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Vulnerable Groups and Poverty Alleviation and Ministry of Women Affairs.

The Governor’s wife, represented by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Vulnerable Group and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs. Ifeoma Thomas, explained that the day served as a solemn reminder that the world’s wealth and resources must be shared equitably.

She further added that it is the responsibility of all to ensure that no one goes to bed hungry and regretted that a significant portion of the global population struggles to secure a basic meal.

“The power to effect change lies within each one of us. no matter how small, we should all contribute to the larger goal of a world where every stomach is full and every heart is hopeful,” she said.

Responding, one of the Matrons at the Homes visited, Felicia Martins thanked the Wife of the Governor for the gesture and prayed that God sees her through in her quest to ensure that the poor are catered for.The Team  led by Special Assistant to the Governor on Vulnerable Groups and Poverty Alleviation Mrs Ifeoma Thomas visited some Charity Homes including, So-Said Charity Home, Amaibo Ubakala, and Saint Vincent de Paul Center for Mentally and Physically Challenged, Umuafai Ndume, and presented them with gift items.
