The Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has called on Nigerians to support Sustainable Economic Development to reduce poverty in Nigeria.
The Minister made this call during the courtesy visit to his office by a Consortium of the Pioneers of Nigeria’s National Disability Civil Right Movement and Former Committed Plateau State APC Appointees on Tuesday, 19th November, 2024 in Abuja.
Yilwatda said Sustainable Economic Development is the major thing that can solve humanitarian problem in Nigeria.
”Believe me, Sustainable Economic Development is the only thing that can solve humanitarian problem in Nigeria. That is why I am throwing it out to you for your response if you have any suggestion on sustainable solution. I cannot do it alone but together we can achieve a meaningful result.” He stated.
He explained that most of the Ministry’s Programmes were suspended due to some issues and he needed to work on bringing them back to live and unravel the cause of the issues for better repackaging.
Professor Yilwatda informed that there are several Government Polices initiated by Government and Mr. President had instructed him to give human face to these policies especially for People living with Disability (PWDs). He assured them that the Policies would be reviewed to improve humanitarian services.
The Hon. Minister also informed of the Sustainable Plan Training coming up by 1st quarter of 2025. According to him, the training would take place in Six Geo-political Zones and the Focus would be on Energy, Agriculture and Transport.
He expressed his gratitude to the delegation for the gesture of love to him through their visit and promised not to leave anyone behind as they work together for better humanitarian services.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation Hon. Felicia Yakzum, in her speech congratulated the Hon Minister on his appointment. She said it was a testament to his dedication, proven track records and deep-rooted commitment to his people.
Another member of the delegation, the Convener of the National Disability Civil Rights, Job Napoleon also informed the Minister of their Programmes and Projects which they discovered tallied with the Ministry’s Programmes and solicited for collaboration and sponsorship.
Present at the event amongst others was Lady Omotunde Ellen Thompson, Leader of the Pioneers of Nigeria’s National Disability Civil Rights Movement.
