Governor Radda Projects Katsina Economic Potentials at WABG Lunch in UK Parliament

FIC Report (Katsina) – Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, CON has projected various economic potentials available in Katsina State. The Governor made this presentation while delivering a keynote speech at the special lunch hosted by the Westminster Africa Business Group (WABG) in the United Kingdom.

Governor Radda outlined sectoral opportunities in Katsina State pointing out education as one of his key priorities with the building and introduction of model schools for gifted children from disadvantaged or lower socio economic backgrounds.

He noted that the State is 75% agrarian and the sector has a huge potential being the mainstream of the majority of the population.

Speaking of mining exploration, the Governor harped that legal mining in a sustainable way will attract huge revenue for the state and avenue for job creation. Adding that lithium, gold and iron ore are reserved in the state.

Early last month, while addressing industry actors and investors at the United Kingdom House of Parliament, Governor Radda who doubled as the Guest of Honour declared that Katsina State energy is also in need of investment to provide energy needs of the state and power industries.

He added that the health sector has a number of areas of investment including imaging and diagnostics to improve health outcomes and treatment for patients.

Earlier, the Governor and other State delegations were received by the Chairman of the WABG, Laurence Robertson and the Vice Chairman, Tim Johnsen while the lunch was hosted by the Andrew Rosindell MP for Romford.

The State delegation which includes Hajiya Bilkisu Sulaiman Ibrahim, Executive Secretary, Katsina State Development Management Board; Hon. Jabiru Abdullahi Tsauri, Chief of Staff, Hon. Abdullahi Ahmed Turaji, Principal Private Secretary; Hon. Khalil Nur Khalil, Chief Economic Adviser; Ahmed Mohammed, Chairman Katsina Football Academy and the lead Consultant, Mr. Haroun Abba toured the historic Houses of Parliament including the House of Commons and the House of Lords to have a firsthand experience on how the houses setting are being carried out.
