FIC Report (Kaduna State) – The Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, was represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Hadeeza Balarabe, at the Summit on Enhancing Human Capital Development in Northern Nigeria held at the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja.
The summit, organised by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation in collaboration with the Northern States Governors’ Forum, was themed “Reversing the Decline, Unleashing Potentials for Northern Nigeria.”
The event brought together governors, policymakers, traditional rulers, development partners, civil society organisations and other stakeholders to deliberate on the region’s human capital challenges and chart pathways for sustainable development.
Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, who was the Special Guest of Honour, was represented by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia.
The Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum was represented by the Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule.
Delivering the keynote address, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, presented evidence demonstrating the strong link between human capital development and economic growth globally.
He called for deliberate and sustained efforts by political leaders and stakeholders to address the region’s human capital deficits.
Speaking during the summit, Dr. Balarabe highlighted Kaduna State’s strides in human capital development under the administration of Governor Uba Sani.
She noted that the state has established the Human Capital Development Policy Council, a multi-sectoral platform that brings together relevant ministries, departments and agencies to drive coordinated interventions.
According to her, the initiative underscores the administration’s commitment to advancing human capital development through strategic investments, effective policies and collaborative governance aimed at improving the well-being and productivity of citizens.
Participants at the summit stressed the need for increased investment in education, healthcare, nutrition and skills development to harness the enormous potential of Northern Nigeria’s youthful population and accelerate socio-economic transformation across the region.
