The South- East Zonal Coordinator, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mr. Fred Anusim has officially flagged off the distribution of edibles and non edibles relief materials to the 2019 flood affected victims across Anambra State.
The ceremony which took place at Father Joseph Memorial School, Aguleri, Anambra East Council Area, had in attendance representatives of Ayamelum, Awka North, Ihiala, Ogbaru and Anambra East and West Local Council Areas affected by the disaster.
Mr. Anusim, represented by the Assistant Coordinator, Mrs. Eyiuche Aniagor noted that the materials were brought by the Federal Government through NEMA after a joint assessment with State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).
He urged them to always be prepared against any flood predictions since they are living in coastal areas.
The Executive Secretary, SEMA, Chief Paul Odenigbo said the items from NEMA was to sympathize with 2019 flood affected victims in Anambra State. Â
On his part, the Chairman Ayamelum Council Area, Mr. Benjamin Onyebor expressed gratitude to both Federal and State Governments for coming to the aid of the people.
President-General, Umumboh Community in Ayamelum Council Area while praising NEMA and SEMA, noted that the materials would go a long way in cushioning the effects of the disaster on the victims.
