FIC Report (Edo State) – In a significant move to bolster safety and security on university grounds, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ekpoma Area Command, has embarked on a strategic partnership with Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma. This collaboration aims to strengthen the University’s Security infrastructure, ensuring a safer environment for students, staff, and visitors alike.
The initiative was inaugurated during a Courtesy visit by the newly appointed Area Commander, Imariagbe Josephine, accompanied by her principal officers, to the University’s Leadership. The meeting took place on Thursday, April 16th, 2026, at the office of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Eunice Omojejie.
During the engaging discussion, both parties emphasized the urgent need to reinforce security protocols within and around the campus. They acknowledged the increasing security challenges faced by tertiary institutions nationwide and agreed on the importance of proactive measures to mitigate such threats. The collaboration seeks to foster a coordinated approach to safeguarding lives and property, leveraging the strengths of both the security agency and the University Administration.
In her address, ACC Imariagbe Josephine highlighted the NSCDC’s commitment to employing Intelligence-Led Operations, expanding surveillance capabilities, and establishing rapid response units. She assured the university authorities of the command’s readiness to deploy Personnel and operational resources to create a secure academic environment conducive to learning and research.
Responding to the initiative, Professor Eunice Omojejie expressed enthusiasm, describing the partnership as both timely and essential. She reaffirmed the university’s dedication to maintaining a secure campus and expressed confidence that the collaboration would significantly enhance existing security measures. The Vice-Chancellor also called for ongoing engagement and effective information sharing between both institutions to ensure the partnership’s success.
The meeting concluded with a consensus to develop a comprehensive Security framework that would include joint patrols, intelligence sharing, and Community-Based Security strategies. Stakeholders from both sides expressed optimism that this partnership would serve as a formidable deterrent to Criminal activities, fostering peace and stability within the University and its surrounding Community.
This collaborative effort marks a proactive step toward creating a safer academic environment, reflecting a shared commitment to security and Community well-being.
