2026 World Productivity Day: NPC Urges Benue Residents To Embrace Productivity Culture

FIC Report (Benue State) – The National Productivity Centre (NPC), Benue State Office, has called on residents of the state to adopt productive habits and efficiently manage available resources to achieve sustainable growth and improved living standards.

The State Coordinator of the National Productivity Centre, Ms. Aladi Achimugwu, made the call during a sensitization campaign held at Tito Gate and Railway Market in Makurdi on Saturday, June 20th 2026, as part of activities marking the 2026 World Productivity Day celebration.

Speaking during the programme, Ms. Achimugwu described World Productivity Day as an opportunity for National Productivity Organizations across the world to raise awareness on the importance of productivity to economic growth, success, and sustainable development.

She explained that the celebration is aimed at promoting productivity knowledge and best practices while encouraging individuals and organizations to develop a strong productivity culture.

According to her, productivity can be enhanced through self-leadership, which involves understanding one’s goals, aspirations, attitudes, and behaviour, and aligning them with personal and professional development.

Ms. Achimugwu further stressed the need for individuals to identify areas where they need to learn or unlearn certain habits in order to position themselves for self-actualization and success.

She urged residents of Benue State to embrace the productivity awareness campaign and apply its principles in their daily activities to achieve meaningful goals.

In her remarks, the Assistant Director of the National Productivity Centre, Benue State Office, Mrs. Grace Wuduri, said productivity entails doing the right things at the right time in order to achieve growth and desired results.

She advised traders, artisans, and other business operators to provide quality goods and services to customers to sustain patronage and ensure business growth.

Mrs. Wuduri emphasized the importance of prudent management of available resources, noting that individuals should maximize the little resources at their disposal rather than waiting for greater opportunities before taking action.

She also warned against the waste of time and resources, describing time as a critical factor in achieving productivity and obtaining maximum value from available opportunities.

The Assistant Director encouraged families, business owners, and employers to educate and train their children, workers, and apprentices on effective resource management to enhance productivity.

Also speaking, the Assistant Chief Productivity Officer, Mr. Shagari Yunusa, urged business owners to train their apprentices on proper resource management and productive work habits.

He called on residents of Benue State to collaborate with the National Productivity Centre in promoting productivity, stressing that meaningful progress cannot be achieved without productivity.

Responding on behalf of market traders, Mrs. Martha Shipinen Danladi, a fruit seller at Railway Market, commended the National Productivity Centre for organizing the awareness campaign. She noted that providing quality goods and services had helped her retain customers and grow her business.

During the sensitization exercise, Mr. Godwin Ani, a provisions trader, sought clarification on government support mechanisms for business owners in resource management. Officials of the Centre provided appropriate responses to his concerns.

The programme formed part of activities to commemorate the 2026 World Productivity Day and to promote a culture of productivity among residents of Benue State.
