In a significant gesture supporting girl child Education and gender inclusiveness, the Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, donated 50 bags of rice and 8 cows to the Federal Government Girls’ College, Gboko, to enhance the nutrition and well-being of the Students.
During an unofficial visit to the School on Saturday, July 06, 2024, on his way to an official engagement in Vandeikya, Governor Alia expressed his admiration for the Students, referring to them as future leaders and his beautiful daughters. He commended the School management for their dedication to maintaining a conducive learning environment and ensuring the Students’ physical and academic welfare.
The Governor emphasized the importance of proper nutrition in enabling the Students to concentrate fully on their studies, thereby helping them achieve their best potential. His donation, comprising 50 bags of 50kg rice and eight cows, is aimed at supplementing the School’s feeding program, ensuring that the Students are well-nourished and can focus on their educational pursuits.
As a staunch advocate of girl child education, Governor Alia urged the Students to excel in their studies and make their parents proud, highlighting that their academic achievements would secure their future success and leadership roles.
In her welcome address, Barr. Mrs. Idoreyin Omaselem Ejohuo, the Director/Principal of the School, expressed her gratitude for the Governor’s visit, which she described as an historic occasion for the Institution. She then pledged the School’s continued commitment to excellence in Education as one of the leading Girls’ Colleges in North Central of Nigeria.
The Modesty House Captain, Anthonia Tukuna, a Student of SS 3 C, extended heartfelt thanks on behalf of the Students, praying for the Governor’s continued wisdom and strength in leading the State effectively.
