NUC grants Accreditation for all Academic Programmes of Federal University of Kashere Gombe State

FIC Report (Gombe State) – The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted approval for all the 43 academic programmes presented for Accreditation during the October/November, 2023 accreditation exercise.

The Approval was contained in an NUC document with reference number NUC/ES/412/VOL.14/327 addressed to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Umaru A. Pate. The Document with the caption, Result of the October/November 2023 Accreditation of Academic Programmes in Nigerian Universities indicated that in line with the provision of section 10 (1) of the Education (National Minimum Standard and Establishment of Institutions) Act CAP E3. Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, the commission has organized the Accreditation of academic programmes at Federal University of Kashere in October/November and accredit all the 43 academic programmes that were presented in either Accredited, Full or Interim Accreditation Status. Among the programmes, some were Postgraduate programme presented for Accreditation, some were existing undergraduate programmes presented for re-accreditation while others were newly established programmes presented for initial accreditation and all have been approved with non of the Programmes was denied Accreditation.

The breakdown of the results indicated that out of 43 Programmes presented, all the four (4) Postgraduate programmes earned Accreditation Status, 32 Undergraduate Programmes got full Accreditation, while 7 other Undergraduate Programmes had Interim Accreditation Status.

It is important to note that by implication any Postgraduate Programme with Accredited Status and Undergraduate Programme with Full Accreditation will remain valid for five (5) years after which it will be presented for re-accreditation whereas, those with Interim Accreditation Status will last for two (2) years before re-accreditation.

You may be aware that the Federal University of Kashere has a total of 98 Academic Programmes, 49 each at Postgraduate and Undergraduate levels. It is also worthy of note that the 49 Postgraduate Programmes are all approved and accredited, 42 Undergraduate Programmes have Full Accreditation Status while the remaining seven (7) Undergraduate Programmes have Interim Accreditation Status.

In a reaction to the recent development, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Umaru A. Pate expressed gratitude to Allah for the successful outcome and commended all staff involved in the Accreditation exercise, describing it as a collective achievement.
While pledging to work towards consolidating on the achievement, the Vice Chancellor also sought for further support of the entire staff of the University in his efforts towards transforming the University into a real citadel of learning.

It could be recalled that the Vice Chancellor upon his assumption of duty on 11th February, 2021 vows to improve the academic standards and quality assurance of the University as one of the six priority areas of his administration which became evident in results of this accreditation exercise.
